GeogJodi-Ann Francis is an international student from Jamaica who is currently pursuing the Master of Arts in Geography degree at Saint Mary’s University; her thesis will be centered around Immigration and Community Planning. During her undergrad, Jodi-Ann has had the opportunity to work with the Ecology Action Centre, a NGO, on the “Daylighting” project which was aimed at reviving the Sawmill River in Dartmouth, NS; she also conducted water quality tests on Rural and Urban Lakes within the province. Jodi-Ann was also the coordinator of the Halifax Dump and Run, which is a community-wide event geared at collecting recyclable items, reselling these items at a reduced cost, and donating the proceeds to various organizations with an environmental theme.

As an international student, Jodi-Ann would like to investigate how communities can be designed to accommodate immigrants while catering to a balanced physical, social, and economic environment.
