Kalind Patel is an enthusiast in the field of planning, with a keen focus on rural and community development. Holding a Master of Planning in Rural Planning & Development from the University of Guelph, Kalind brings a unique perspective shaped by both academic excellence and hands-on experience. His background includes a Bachelor of Planning from Nirma University, and he’s equipped with a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Conestoga College, which bolsters his skill in navigating complex projects with a meticulous approach. Currently, working towards getting CAPM certification for Project Management and is eligible Candidate member of OPPI and CIP.
Throughout his career, Kalind has worked across diverse planning domains, from urban planning roles at Ignitus Architectural Studio and HCP – Design, Planning and Management, to project management with Empire Developers. Most recently, he has served as a Graduate Research Assistant, contributing to essential research on newcomer attraction to rural Ontario to address local labor shortages. This research “Work Force and Labour Force Development: An Overview of Concepts and Models” led by Prof. Ryan Gibson, highlights Kalind’s commitment to addressing community challenges through strategic planning and actionable insights. He has also completed his Major Research Paper for his Master in Planning which focused on “Rural Broadband in Northern Ontario,” examined the current state of broadband access in Northern Ontario communities and investigates the role of planners in facilitating internet infrastructure.
