Research Assistant
Hiroaki Nakashima is an undergraduate international student at Saint Mary’s university, Halifax. He focuses his studies in Geography and Economics. He was born and raised in a small city in Japan where there is a ‘Satoyama’, which is a traditional Japanese landscape in which the local ecosystem and human community live in harmony. Growing up in such an environment, he has acquired a strong interest in community development and Planning. In 2012, he participated in a wilderness canoe trip on the French River, Ontario and contributed an article to the Wilderness Canoe Association’s journal NASTAWGAN. He is currently working on his honors thesis that is focused on urban transportation in Halifax.
