alum Jacques is a 2025 MSc in Rural Planning & Development graduate from the University of Guelph. He has worked for various environmental organisations building gardens for seniors, managing social media for agritourism non-profits, Coordinating Farm Crawl Hamilton and leading tours for Ontario parks. In 2021 he co launched a project (Tasty Farm) aimed at growing indoor specialty produce. He finished his undergrad at Ryerson (now T.M.U.) in Arts and Contemporary Studies with a minor in Philosophy, and a certificate in Urban Agriculture. During Autumn 2024- Spring 2025 he traveled to Tokyo to research peri urban farms and wrote his thesis (Agriculture as an Amenity: A Case Study of Peri-Urban Farmland in Tokyo, Japan) on integrating agriculture into development. His interests include helping translate the trends of walkability, human scaled, and mixed used land to rural areas. He previously worked in North Saanich as an Auxiliary planner and is currently working for the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Planner III.
